Dear friends,
For the first time in 2025, I returned to the pulpit this week. In honor of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Day, I’m sharing my sermon with you. I remixed Dr. King’s beautiful sermon, “The Drum Major Instinct.” I grew up listening to this sermon, as my father kept it in rotation in the car. I was drawn by the question, “what would Dr. King say to us on the eve of the inauguration of the 47th administration?” I do hope this blesses you, especially if you find yourself intimidated, fearful, or anxious about what the next four years will bring.
As a matter of fact, this entire service will uplift your spirit today. The Gospel choir. The reflection from Dr. Johnson. The African drum and dance ministry. The student leaders. Serving in Sisters Chapel is one of the greatest joys of my life. I’m happy to have you in our virtual Chapel.
