today, i want to share a sermon that i preached several months ago that continues to linger in my spirit. even though this sermon was borne out of a stubborn and painful back injury i suffered earlier this year, it contains lessons learned from various trials and seasons of healing. we all know that healing is not linear and we’re never really “done” healing. after multiple experiences of pain, and many experiences of subsequent healing, i like to say that i am at once, “healing and ever healing.” new traumas and triggers are real, and sometimes our wounds hurt more before they begin to feel better. so, healing requires that we come back to the work over and over again. it requires that we become proactive about our spiritual, mental and physical wellness.
there is a healing that comes with the perspective gained over time, and the central point of this sermon is that we are our own agents. we have the agency to choose healing, to commit to the work despite the discomfort, and to see the the process through until our desired change comes.
i’m on vacation this week, so please forgive this short post. 🙏🏾
wishing you healing, wellness, and light.
always.
